Akamai now mitigates the more than 65% of the 10,000-plus yearly DDoS attacks against its Prolexic platform via proactive mitigation controls, in 0 seconds and with no customer impact. The number of DDoS attacks instantly mitigated via the Prolexic platform has increased exponentially over the past four years. We attribute this growth to our proactive engagement with customers, and the ability to implement and manage proactive mitigation postures based upon their baselined network traffic. Akamai has been detecting and successfully mitigating DDoS attacks in an industry-leading SLA for 15 years. We will illustrate how Akamai continues to lead the industry with new capabilities including advanced customer traffic profiling and proactive mitigation controls to ensure the best possible results during an actual DDoS event.

Digital transformation (DX) is a must for midsize firms (those with 100 to 999 employees) to thrive in the digital economy. DX enables firms to increase competitive advantage through initiatives such as automating business processes, creating greater operational efficiencies, building deeper customer relationships, and creating new revenue streams based on technology-enabled products and services. DX is a journey, and it starts with firms embracing an IT-centric vision that guides a data-driven, analytics-first strategy. The outcome of DX initiatives depends on the ability of a firm to efficiently leverage people (talent), process, platforms, and governance to meet the firm’s business objectives.

IBM has used the Storwize architecture to produce multiple storage systems across different usage segments to meet different customer needs. The ability to scale with a common underlying architecture has proven to deliver multiple benefits to IBM customers. Features developed for high-end enterprise systems now meet customer needs in other, more price conscious segments. The leverage from a common base for systems helps reduce development and support costs which are reflected in product costs for customers. The Storwize architecture also builds on Intel-based hardware, which provides continued advances with each new generation yet retains the same fundamental architecture. Customers also benefit from a storage architecture that provides a consistent experience across multiple products and generations.

The global financial crisis of 2008 still reverberates today. Sluggish economic growth, stricter regulatory requirements and rapidly changing consumer behavior are placing unprecedented demands on the banking industry. In recent years, banks – particularly those with substantial retail operations – have relied on the lethargy of their customers to maintain their business. Customer loyalty has been based more on proximity of local branches and convenience of ATM networks than the quality of customer care or products and services priced and tailored to a bank’s best customers. In response to the financial crisis, banks have focused on wringing complexity and costs from their systems – exacerbated by mergers and acquisitions – while dealing with new and tighter regulations. Yet, their traditional “one-size-fits-all” mass-marketing approach to customers has remained constant.

Today, the internet has changed the way buyers discover solutions. More people are meeting and researching vendors online than ever before. Your ideal customers are reading blog posts and articles, checking Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles, and forming opinions based on what you say and share online. Before they call to get to know your company better, they turn to Google for answers and information. If a competing vendor appears smarter, more interesting, or more reliable than you, your buyers will reach out to them first. These online engagements have changed the rules of buyer/brand communications. So how can you and your company form meaningful relationships with buyers who are getting to know you long before they’ve been introduced?
